PVTIME – Metacon AB, a Swedish hydrogen technology company, is bringing newly developed electrolyser stacks, manufactured by China’s PERIC Hydrogen Technologies, into the European green hydrogen market under their established industrial partnership.
The next-generation pressurised alkaline electrolysis hardware, announced on 10 September 2026, delivers improved technical performance compared with earlier stack designs. Operating current density increases by up to 17%, while cell-plate weight decreases by up to 13%. The equipment can handle highly flexible load profiles and temporarily operate above nominal capacity, making it ideal for use with intermittent renewable energy sources.
Metacon is responsible for system integration and commercial delivery in Europe. The new stacks will be deployed immediately across live and pipeline industrial hydrogen projects. Technical upgrades target lower stack-level costs and a more competitive levelised cost of green hydrogen for European end users.
