PVTIME – US battery startup EnerVenue has signed its first major commercial contract, securing an order for an 11MWh battery energy storage system to be deployed at an oilfield in North China.
The agreement marks a significant milestone for the company as it transitions from development to commercial deployment. The system is scheduled to be delivered following the commencement of operations at EnerVenue’s manufacturing facility in Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, which is set to begin production on 24 September 2026.
The Changzhou plant will launch with an initial annual production capacity of 250MWh. The company has outlined plans to scale up operations significantly, with capacity targeted to reach 1GWh by 2027.
The deployment at the North China oilfield will serve as EnerVenue’s flagship commercial reference case, demonstrating the application of its metal-hydrogen battery technology in industrial energy storage settings.
