PVTIME – The US International Development Finance Corporation (DFC) has announced financial support for an existing 400MWh BESS portfolio operating in Ukraine.
The financing package is designed to reinforce the resilience of Ukraine’s power grid amid ongoing strain on the energy system. The portfolio’s battery assets will provide essential grid stabilisation services, helping to balance the power supply and minimise outages across Ukrainian electricity networks.
Rather than funding new greenfield construction, DFC’s intervention targets operational storage assets already deployed in Ukraine. This support will ensure that these battery systems continue to function, remaining vital for providing a reliable electricity supply to communities and essential infrastructure.
The DFC financing is part of wider US-backed efforts to recover Ukraine’s energy sector. Grid-scale battery storage continues to be a vital tool for mitigating volatility and strengthening the country’s war-affected power infrastructure.
