Suntech and Vena Energy Ink for Renewable Energy Supply Chain Cooperation in Indonesia

PVTIME – On 7 August 2023, Suntech, a prominent manufacturer of photovoltaic systems worldwide working in the research and production of crystalline silicon solar cells and modules, has signed a Framework Agreement with Vena Energy, a renowned renewable energy company operating in the Asia-Pacific region, Powin, an energy platform provider offering integrated storage solutions, software and services, and REPT BATTERO, a frontrunner in power battery systems for new energy passenger vehicles, with the aim of promoting sustainable energy development in Indonesia, which is targeted to achieve net-zero emissions by 2060.

According to the agreement, Vena Energy based in Singapore, Suntech from China, along with REPT Battero and Powin from the United States, will develop the supply chain for renewable energy in Indonesia, comprising local production capacity for solar panels and energy storage systems. The new partnership will focus on revamping the local production lines for solar modules and energy storage products. This effort will help to facilitate Indonesia’s energy transformation and ensure the security of the supply chain.

Most of these products will be primarily utilised in Vena Energy’s solar plant, estimated to possess an installed capacity of 2GW along with an energy storage capacity of 8GWh. The plant, currently in the developmental stage, is situated in the Riau Islands of Indonesia. It is estimated to receive a multi-billion dollar investment, and its completion will be a significant milestone for clean energy initiatives in the region.
