SPIC Yunnan and Yongren County Government Sign Agreement to Build a 400MW PV Power Plant

PVTIME – State Power Investment Corporation Limited (SPIC) wholly-owned subsidiary SPIC Yunnan International and the Yongren County Government have signed an investment and construction agreement for the Menglian 400MW photovoltaic power station project.

This project is another major breakthrough for Yunnan International since it obtained the right to develop a 530MW photovoltaic project in Yilian, Yongren County, in 2020. The signing this time takes Yunnan International one step closer to its development goal of establishing more than a GW in PV power plants in Yongren County.

Yongren County has unique advantages in photovoltaic resources. It is known as the “Sunshine City” and is also an important hub and channel for “Cloud Power Transmission” and “West-to-East Power Transmission”. The estimated investment total of the project is 1.92 billion yuan and the plant will have an average annual power generation capacity of 607 million kWh. Construction for the project will begin construction in December 2021.

SPIC Yunnan said it will fully utilize its management, technology, capital, and platform advantages in the field of new energy to actively integrate into the energy and economic development strategy of Yongren County so as to conduct in-depth cooperation in PV power plant construction, county development, integrated smart energy promotion, and rural revitalization.
