PVTIME – Vestas has secured a significant repowering contract for the Wulfshagen onshore wind farm project in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany. The deal was officially announced on 3 September 2026. The contract, awarded by developer European Energy, includes the supply of eight V162-6.2MW wind turbines for the site. The project has an operational capacity of 49.6MW and will fully upgrade the site’s original 12.5MW legacy wind assets, despite being publicly referenced as a 50MW scheme.
Turbine delivery is scheduled for the first quarter of 2027, with full project commissioning set to be completed by the end of the fourth quarter of the same year. Vestas will provide differentiated long-term maintenance coverage for the new turbine fleet under two dedicated 20-year service frameworks. Two turbines will be supported by an AOM 4000 service agreement, while the remaining six units will operate under an AOM 5000 maintenance contract to ensure long-term operational stability.
The upgraded wind farm features local community participation, with regional citizen-energy enterprise BWP Tuttendorf Projekt GmbH & Co. KG holding partial co-ownership of the asset. Once fully operational, the repowered site is expected to generate around 130,000MWh of clean electricity each year, enough to power approximately 40,000 local households.
As a brownfield repowering initiative, the project will significantly boost renewable energy output from an established wind site without requiring greenfield development. It strengthens Germany’s onshore wind expansion roadmap and supports the country’s broader clean energy transition targets.
