Powerway constructs PV mounting system factory in South Africa

On June 19th, 2012, a South African Investment Seminar was held in the Sheraton Hotel, Guangzhou, China. The seminar was hosted by the South African Consulate General, the Shanghai and Guangdong Provincial Bureaus of Foreign Trade & Economic Cooperation (BOFTEC), and the Guangzhou Municipal BOFTEC. The consuls introduced the South African investment environment to the delegates and provided details such as visa application procedures.

Powerway, the first Chinese investor to establish a factory for solar mounting structures in South Africa, was represented by Ms. Sherry Shi, Powerway’s CMO. Ms. Shi gave a well-received speech in which she shared Powerway’s experience in setting up its South African factory with the more than 100 Chinese investors and enterprises attending the seminar.

Ms. Shi told the delegates that, “ Thanks to the excellent coordination between the South African Department of Trade and Industry, the Government, and the South African Consulate General, Shanghai, the construction of Powerway’s new 500MW factory in Kimberly is close to completion. The first consignment of production equipment will be shipped to South Africa from Guangdong at the end of June and I am pleased to announce that the factory will start production before August. We are confident that Powerway will provide significant support to South African solar farm projects, with reliable, locally-produced mounting structures as well as high quality services.”
