PVTIME – Nextracker, a leading global provider of smart solar trackers, foundations and software solutions, today inaugurated India’s first Centre for Solar Excellence (CFSE) in Hyderabad, India. The 13-acre facility is designed to advance photovoltaic research and development, testing and workforce development for the Indian and Middle Eastern solar markets.
The CFSE will include a laboratory, a solar tracker R&D facility and training facilities covering the entire project lifecycle from structural, mechanical and electrical design to construction, operation and maintenance. Working closely with supply chain partners, customers and third party laboratories, Nextracker’s cross-functional team of experts will develop, test and commercialise proprietary technologies.
This is the third R&D centre Nextracker has established overseas. The company has two other R&D and test lab facilities in Northern California (headquarters) and in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Comparable in size and scope, these facilities enable Nextracker to incubate and commercialise PV technologies that are localised to regional needs and demand.
Today, 95% of Nextracker’s tracker components are manufactured in India, supported by strong local partnerships that enable over 10GW of annual production capacity. Nextracker combines comprehensive support, from on-site project management and engineering to seamless delivery of systems designed for rapid installation, with advanced software, world-class tracker technology and robotic cleaning solutions to maximise performance.
Earlier this year, Nextracker also expanded its business by acquiring two companies, Ojjo in June and Solar Pile International in August. In addition, its manufacturing capacity in the US is growing rapidly. Soon after the production capacity of the Pennsylvania plant reached 4GW per year, Nextracker and Unimacts jointly opened another solar tracker production site in Nevada.
