The partnership focuses on advancing Aurinkokarhu’s 3GW domestic project pipeline in Finland, with potential for expansion into other Nordic regions. Specialising in large-scale energy infrastructure and data centre projects, Aurinkokarhu’s ongoing development portfolio includes 2GW of battery energy storage capacity, 1GW of solar facilities and a variety of integrated power generation and storage hybrid schemes.

The project portfolio will be constructed in phases, with around 1GW of capacity due to start development in 2026, and the remainder scheduled for initiation in 2027 and 2028. The two parties will also jointly progress early-stage projects totalling over 0.8GW in Finland and Sweden in the coming years.

Under the joint venture framework, Aurinkokarhu will provide local project development expertise and regional operational support. As the energy subsidiary of the Futureal Group, a real estate group focused on Central and Eastern Europe, FEP will oversee the financial arrangements and transaction management for all collaborative schemes. The firm highlights Finland’s strong investment fundamentals, ranking the country among the most viable markets in Europe for the development of high-grade renewable energy and storage.
