PVTIME – LONGi has signed a two-year framework cooperation agreement with ENGIE, under which it will supply 800MWp of high-efficiency back-contact photovoltaic modules and 500MWh of energy storage products. This will support the development of ENGIE’s solar and storage projects across Europe and other key global markets.

This agreement represents an expansion of the relationship between the two companies. In May 2025, LONGi, ENGIE and PowerChina signed a framework agreement in Paris. This was followed in November 2025 by a cooperation agreement for the 1.5GW Al Dhafra PV4 project in Abu Dhabi. For this project, LONGi is supplying 1.1GW of Hi-MO 9 modules. Located in a hot desert climate, the Abu Dhabi project will benefit from the stable performance of the Hi-MO 9 modules, which are built on HPBC 2.0 technology and have been proven to withstand high temperatures, high humidity and uneven irradiance. Once completed, the project is expected to generate enough electricity for around 160,000 households and reduce annual carbon emissions by approximately 2.4 million tonnes.
Under the new framework, the 800MWp of modules will be sourced from LONGi’s HPBC technology platform, including the Hi-MO 9 product family. These modules use HPBC 2.0 cells, with all grid lines placed on the rear side to eliminate front-side shading and maximise light absorption. The Hi-MO 9 Prime series, which was launched at Intersolar Europe in June 2026, can reach a power output of up to 680W per module and a conversion efficiency of 25.2%. By June 2026, LONGi’s BC platform had achieved cumulative commercial sales and shipments of over 60GW, including 22.87GW in 2025 and 19.55GW in the first half of 2026. BC products accounted for over 65% of shipments during this period.
The 500MWh of storage capacity will be supplied under LONGi ONE, the company’s integrated solar-plus-storage solution. According to LONGi, the system is designed to avoid the coordination and accountability issues that can arise when components are sourced from multiple suppliers. Its native integrated architecture delivers an AC round-trip efficiency of up to 93.5%, and cluster-level management is said to increase usable storage capacity by 7% over the system lifecycle. The solution is already being deployed in markets including Italy and Romania.
LONGi chairman Zhong Baoshen said that the company expects to develop a long-term strategic partnership with ENGIE based on their existing collaboration. This agreement shifts the relationship from a single-project equipment supply basis to a multi-product, multi-market framework that covers Europe and other priority regions.
