JinkoSolar’s Application for Its 1.8GW Module +1.8GW Cell Production Project in Malaysia Has Been Approved

PVTIME – On November 5, the Jiangxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission issued the “Notice on the Approval of JinkoSolar Co., Ltd.’s Application for the Construction of the Fourth Phase 1800MW Solar Module and 1800MW Solar Cell Production Line in Malaysia”. The notice is valid for 2 years.

According to records, JinkoSolar plans to invest $221.27 million USD to build a production line with an annual output of 1.8GW photovoltaic modules and 1.8GW solar cell in Penang, Malaysia through its overseas wholly-owned subsidiary JinkoSolar (Malaysia) Sdn. Bhd.

The location of Penang is of significance to JinkoSolar as the company, following China’s Belt and Road Strategy, has made heavy investments abroad and built its largest overseas production facility in the city. Currently, JinkoSolar’s Penang production facility has a solar cell manufacturing capacity of 1.5GW and module manufacturing production facility of 1.3GW, and has created more than 4000 jobs for the local community.
