Fire Hits Battery Plant in Anning City

PVTIME – At 19:42 on 27 May 2026, a fire erupted at a manufacturing site in Caopu, Anning City, Yunnan Province, China. Fire service teams attended immediately and had brought the blaze under full control by 21:03. There were no injuries as a result of the incident, and inquiries into the root cause are ongoing.

The affected site is operated by Yunnan Yuneng New Energy Battery Material Co., Ltd., which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Hunan Yuneng New Energy Battery Material Co., Ltd. The facility is recognised as a key domestic supplier of lithium-ion battery cathode materials. Its product range focuses on lithium iron phosphate and ternary materials for use in power and energy storage batteries for electric vehicles and energy storage applications. The group runs five production facilities located in the Chinese provinces of Hunan, Guangxi, Sichuan, Guizhou and Yunnan.
