PVTIME – Translucent Energy has inaugurated a new 1.2GW solar module assembly plant in Summerville, South Carolina, with an initial phase investment of USD 15.6 million. The development establishes the company’s formal domestic manufacturing footprint within the United States renewable energy sector.

Overseen by Chief Technology Officer Dr Nabih Cherradi, all production hardware for the site is completing Factory Acceptance Testing at manufacturing facilities ahead of scheduled delivery to South Carolina in October. Commercial product distribution is set to begin in December, with a full-year output target of 600MW to 800MW for its first operational cycle.
The firm intends to accelerate production capacity by increasing operational shifts, responding to rising local module replacement demand stimulated by United States Section 232 tariff regulations. All on-site manufactured products utilise N-type cell technology, suitable for utility-scale ground installations, commercial and industrial systems, and residential rooftop solar deployments to support full-spectrum domestic market requirements.
