PVTIME – American Steel and Aluminum (ASA), a US-based solar foundation manufacturer, has opened a second 5,000-square-metre factory in Syracuse, New York. This expansion is in response to growing demand from key sectors, including renewable energy, data centres, and national defence. It will support developers’ needs for domestically produced steel components amid the rapid growth in renewable energy and data centre capacity.

ASA President Sam Blatchford said the expansion directly aligns with market requirements, as the company’s clients in the data centre, defence and energy sectors are expanding and require a domestic manufacturing partner that can grow alongside them.
Earlier this year, ASA entered the solar balance of system market with a domestically produced solar anchor bolt. This component meets US solar industry standards for local supply chain traceability and is compatible with most tracker and fixed-tilt mounting systems.
FEOC regulations, which will take effect in early 2026, have elevated the origin of components in the US solar project hardware supply chain to a key procurement standard. These rules will gradually increase the domestic component threshold for tax credits in the coming years to reduce dependence on imports and boost US domestic production.
