5GW! Caelux Forges Tandem Module Partnerships in India’s Solar Market

PVTIME – On 23 July, Caelux Corporation, a specialist energy technology developer, concluded two standalone five-year commercial deals with leading Indian solar module manufacturers Navitas Solar and Rayzon Solar. Each deal was allocated a capacity volume of 5GW. These agreements build on the 3GW, five-year deal reached with Solx in April, demonstrating robust market endorsement for the commercialisation of perovskite solar technology.

The alliance with Navitas Solar focuses on the co-development of high-efficiency tandem photovoltaic devices. Caelux’s patented power-generating glass combined with Navitas Solar’s N-type TOPCon cell technology creates a stacked silicon perovskite design with a maximum conversion efficiency of 28%. Navitas Solar, founded in 2013 and based in Surat in the state of Gujarat, focuses on the production of monocrystalline PERC and high-grade N-type TOPCon solar products. Senior representatives of both businesses affirmed the strategic importance of the partnership. This integrated technical solution will support India’s shift towards low-carbon energy and strengthen the foundations of local manufacturing, while encouraging the domestic industry to prioritise the development of high-efficiency technology that can compete globally over increasing capacity.

Caelux’s power-generating glass will also be incorporated into Rayzon Solar’s advanced TOPCon modules under the parallel contract. Drawing on Rayzon’s 11.3GW dual panel production capacity, the joint project will mass produce silicon perovskite tandem modules with 28% efficiency in line with the national Make in India industrial policy. Rayzon’s ALMM-accredited factories in Kim and Kosamba satisfy the tender criteria for large-scale utility projects. Pilot deployment work is underway, with full commercial production scheduled for 2028. This collaborative technological endeavour will solidify India’s position in the realm of advanced solar manufacturing and bolster the nation’s objective of achieving 500GW of renewable energy capacity by 2030.

India’s solar rollout has expanded rapidly under the Production Linked Incentive scheme and the ALMM certification rules administered by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy. Cumulative installed solar capacity has surpassed 150GW, making India the third largest solar deployer globally. However, a further 350GW of renewable assets need to be commissioned before the end of the decade to meet the government’s climate targets.

Caelux is a world leader in perovskite solar research and production. Its proprietary solution converts the upper glass layer of standard panels into an additional power-generating layer, increasing module energy density by up to 30% and reducing the levelised cost of electricity by over 20%. The hybrid cell architecture agreed with Indian partners delivers superior performance compared with traditional all-silicon modules and will speed up the nationwide rollout of solar power, with a shared commercial launch timeline of 2028.
