2.8 Billion Yuan! LONGi Kicks Off Module Plant in Malaysia

PVTIME – On 17 October 2023, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co. Ltd. (LONGi) The PV giant has launched the first phase of its Serendah Module Plant in Malaysia to rejuvenate the local economy and strengthen Malaysia’s progress towards sustainable development.

This special 140-acre module plant is a core part of LONGi’s integrated layout of PV products in Malaysia, with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, and a milestone for LONGi to maintain its leading position in the global PV market.

The plant, with a total investment of 1.8 billion yuan, will be developed in two phases with a total capacity of 8.8GW of high-efficiency solar modules, with 2.8GW in the first phase and 6GW in the second phase. The second phase of the project has been launched while the first phase is now operational.

In addition, around 900 jobs have been offered to local people, and a total of more than 2,000 jobs will soon be available. With a focus on localised growth, LONGi’s workforce in Malaysia has grown from an initial 570 in 2016 to more than 8,000 by 2023, with a staggering 99.9% being Malaysian nationals.
