2.6GW! Al Shubah PV Project Awarded Official PCOD Certification

PVTIME – The 2.6GW Al Shubah photovoltaic project in Saudi Arabia has attained full commercial operation certification for its ASB2 segment.

The formal PCOD certificate was issued by the project owner on 22 June, local time. The facility, which was undertaken by China Energy Engineering Corporation as the general contractor, has completed full-capacity grid integration, performance verification, grid compliance assessment and on-site handover. It has now commenced its official commercial power generation and warranty period.

A key initiative of Saudi Vision 2030, the project comprises ASB1 and ASB2 sub-projects spanning 52.54 square kilometres of land. It is currently the world’s largest PV facility in terms of installed capacity. Over its 35-year operational cycle, the plant is expected to generate 282.2 billion kWh of electricity and prevent around 245 million tonnes of carbon dioxide from being emitted.
