Trina Solar Supplies 800MW Vertax Modules for Al Dhafra 2GW PV Plant

PVTIME – The Al Dhafra 2GW Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Independent Power Producer project, the largest single-site solar power plant in the world, was connected to the grid in April 2023. Trina Solar (688599.SH), a leading global provider of integrated solar PV and smart energy solutions, had supplied 800MW of Vertax high-efficiency solar modules for the project.

The Al Dhafra PV2 solar project, which uses the latest innovations in crystalline bifacial solar technology, is located in Abu Dhabi. It is the largest single-site photovoltaic plant in the world to date. Once operational, it will generate clean electricity for up to 160,000 homes in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 2.4 million tonnes per year, the equivalent of taking 470,000 cars off the road.

Dhafrah PV2 Energy Company LLC is the project company that will manage the financing, construction, operation and maintenance of the solar plant, including the installation of solar PV modules, inverters, connection to the transmission grid and related facilities. With a total investment of approximately $1 billion, this is a multi-party project procured by the Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) and developed by EDF Renouvelables and Jinko Power (HK) in partnership with the Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA) and Masdar.
