PVTIME – On 1st August 2023, Trina Solar successfully produced 210+ n-type i-TOPCon high-efficiency solar cells using the 5GW production lines at the Qinghai facility. These cells will be utilized in the new generation of n-type 700W Vertex modules, thereby completing the industrial supply chain from crystal-pulling to cell and module production at the fully integrated Qinghai facility as its first 210+ n-type monocrystalline silicon rods were produced at the same facility in February this year.
The n-type i-TOPCon cells utilized Trina Solar’s advanced technology, which was released in May 2023. They utilized the PE Poly Solution Stacked with the Second Generation of Laser SE. The cell efficiency can achieve up to 26% during mass production. The use of 210 i-TOPCon cells allows n-type 700W Vertex series modules to offer high power, efficiency, generation, reliability, and low LCOE, these features position it as the superstar of low LCOE for ground solar power plants, resulting in greater value and profitability for customers.
Trina Solar is expected to enhance its advantages via the development of the n-type cell. Through the application of frontal fully passivated contact technology, it is anticipated that the conversion efficiency of n-type i-TOPCon cells in mass production will surpass 27% in the near future. With the application of stacked cell technology, the n-type i-TOPCon stacked cells are expected to achieve a conversion efficiency of over 30%, enabling Trina Solar to maintain its leading position with cutting-edge technologies, demonstrating its openness and foresight. With its openness and foresight, 210+N remains at the forefront of stacking cutting-edge technologies.
By the end of this year, Trina Solar aims to achieve 95GW of module production capacity and 75GW of cell production capacity, of which 40GW will be n-type cells using the new generation n-type i-TOPCon technology. This will provide a solid foundation for the seamless supply of Trina Solar’s n-type modules.
