Serbia Talks With Chinese Company “Elink” on Cooperation in the Field of RES and Modernization of the Electricity Distribution Network

PVTIME – Serbia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Mining and Energy, prof. Zorana Mihajlovic, PhD, talked recently with representatives of the Chinese company “Elink China” about cooperation in the process of energy transition, opportunities for investment in the RES sector, as well as the modernization and introduction of technological improvements in the work of “Electricity Distribution of Serbia”.

Deputy Prime Minister informed the representatives of the company about the goals of the Ministry, primarily about the plans during the energy transition.

“This year is very important for the entire energy sector. We have the basis, we have adopted the legal framework, the development of the energy development strategy and the national plan for climate and energy is in progress. We are ready and we want to be a part of the world flow in the energy transition. The Law on the Use of RES, which we have passed and which meets the highest world standards, is an opportunity to cooperate with the best companies in the field of the green agenda. The book of projects, which we will present in September, is a realistic presentation of the potential of Serbia, and companies from China are welcome to participate in the realization of these projects, especially in the part related to hydrogen strategy, solar and wind power plants. The value of the projects is 17 billion euros and we want to cooperate with all world companies, “said Mihajlovic.

Representatives of the Chinese company were also informed about the plan for the introduction of advanced measuring systems, which includes the replacement of classic meters with modern smart meters with modern software, and expressed a desire to participate in this project.

“We think that Serbia is an important factor in the region, that it is an energy hub and our idea is to cooperate more closely in the use of new technologies that we have developed, which are used in monitoring the work and improving the distribution of electricity.” We are ready to participate in other projects related to renewable energy sources, and we want to talk about Serbia being our regional base for production, development and cooperation with young talents, “said Xuming Sun, regional sales manager. for Eastern Europe.

Representatives of the Chinese Embassy in Belgrade also attended the meeting, at which it was agreed that talks on cooperation between the company “Elink” and the Ministry and “Elektrodistribucija Srbije” would be intensified.
