LONGi Wins TÜV Rheinland’s Highest A++ Energy Yield Rating for Its Bifacial Modules

PVTIME – During SNEC 2020, LONGi, the world leading solar technology company, was awarded the A++ Energy Yield Rating Label for desert climate conditions by TÜV Rheinland for the excellent power generation performance of its bifacial modules. The A++ label is the highest among the seven grades of TÜV Rheinland’s rankings and validates the outstanding performance of LONGi’s PERC bifacial modules in desert conditions.

Tang Xuhui, Vice President of LONGi Solar, receives the award from TÜV Rheinland

The A++ ranking label awarded is based on the one-year (2018.09~2019.09) power generation of its bifacial modules in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia and Chennai, India. The pilot project in Saudi Arabia is located at the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology School in Jeddah, with the surface being sand. The annual power generation of LONGi’s bifacial PERC modules reached 1713.8kWh/kWp/year (system efficiency 95.0%), with a bifacial gain of 11.4%. The pilot project in India is located in Chennai, on the country’s east coast, on white gravel surface. The annual power generation of the bifacial modules here reached 1370.6kWh/kWp/year (system efficiency 99.3%), with a bifacial gain of 19.3%.

In addition to the pilot projects above, LONGi’s high-efficiency modules have maintained excellent performance in TÜV Rheinland’s (All Quality Matters) outdoor pilot projects.

In 2019, based on excellent power generation data in a pilot project in Cologne, Germany, the company’s monofacial PERC module won TÜV Rheinland’s “Outdoor Energy Yield All Quality Matters Award” for the monofacial group. The module’s annual power generation (2017.07-2018.07) reached 874.2kWh/kWp/year.

In 2020, the power generation performance of LONGi PERC modules in a pilot project in Arizona, USA, received the same award in both monofacial and bifacial groups, the annual power generation (2018.09-2019.08) reaching 1637.4kWh /kWp/year.

Tang Xuhui, Vice President of LONGi Solar, said: “LONGi has always insisted on using innovative and high efficiency photovoltaic technology to continuously push forward the iterative upgrades of module products. TÜV Rheinland’s A++ Energy Yield Rating Label is a great recognition of the power generation performance, reliability and advancement of LONGi’s PV modules. It demonstrates LONGi’s long-term commitment to technological innovations to deliver high-efficiency and high-quality photovoltaic products. LONGi will continue to provide the industry and its customers with more valuable photovoltaic products and promote the rapid uptake of clean energy in the world.”

LONGi is committed to pushing forward the decrease of the LCOE in the photovoltaic industry through continuous innovation. Over the past 5 years, LONGi has invested more than 0.7 billion dollars in R&D, employing over 600 employees in this area, laying the foundation for the company’s technological leadership and enabling the high-efficiency, high-reliability and high-yield performance of its mono-crystalline modules to achieve wider recognition and preference worldwide.
