PVTIME – LONGi announced on Wednesday that its wholly-owned subsidiary Longi Leye Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. has signed a project investment with the Management Committee of Xi’an National Civil Aerospace Industrial Base with the intention to construct a monocrystalline solar cell production facility with an annual production capacity of 10GW.
According to the announcement, LONGi Leye Photovoltaic Technology Co., Ltd. will invest about 4.5 billion yuan (645.6 million USD) into the project. The project will be implemented in two phases, a 7.5GW first phase and a 2.5GW second phase， and will also include a 680MW monocrystalline cell and module pilot project.
LONGi said that the project investment agreement signed this time is in line with the company’s strategic needs for capacity planning and after the project is put into operation, it will help the company to further increase the production capacity of high-efficiency monocrystalline cells, strengthen the research and development capabilities of monocrystalline cells and modules, help LONGi seize the development opportunities in the monocrystalline market, and continuously increase LONGi’s monocrystalline market share.
