Powering Mauritius: Linyang Energy’s 40MW/120MWh Phase I Project Connects to the Grid

PVTIME – As Mauritius advances its renewable energy transition, energy storage is becoming increasingly important for grid stability and renewable energy integration.

On October 24, Linyang Energy Storage’s 40MW/120MWh grid-side energy storage project achieved grid connection for Phase I, featuring a 20MW/60MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). The system successfully completed full-power charging and discharging tests on October 25, with stable operation and performance meeting design requirements.

Supporting Island Grid Stability

With no external grid interconnection, Mauritius needs flexible resources to balance electricity supply and demand. Energy storage can help regulate frequency, manage renewable energy fluctuations, and support reliable power supply.

The BESS features millisecond-level response, black-start support, and grid-forming capabilities, providing voltage and frequency support when needed.

Advancing Mauritius’ Clean Energy Transition

Mauritius aims to achieve a 60% renewable energy share by 2030. The project will help improve grid flexibility and support the integration of more renewable energy as development progresses.

The successful grid connection marks an important milestone for Linyang Energy Storage in Africa’s island markets, highlighting its capabilities in energy storage system integration and overseas project delivery.

Linyang Energy will continue to provide energy storage solutions that support grid stability and a more sustainable energy future.
