PVTIME – Turkish solar manufacturer Kalyon PV has commissioned a 1.1GW solar cell production line in Turkey. The line processes G12R (182 x 210 mm) TOPConPlus cells, increasing Kalyon PV’s annual nameplate solar cell capacity to 2.1GW.

Founded in 2017, Kalyon PV began production in Ankara in 2020. Its vertical integration now includes 1GW of ingot and wafer capacity, 2.1GW of cell capacity, and 1.9GW of module capacity, boosted by the new line.
Last year, the firm was named a “Top Performer” in the Kiwa PVEL 2025 Module Reliability Scorecard, the first Turkish manufacturer to achieve this, having passed six out of seven assessment tests.
Turkey’s solar manufacturing sector is expanding, with five manufacturers, including China’s Chint Solar, planning to invest over $2.5 billion in solar cell factories nationwide.
Turkey’s organic solar manufacturing growth, though lower in capacity than that of other Middle Eastern nations, is driven by domestic demand and proximity to Europe, positioning it as a key player in the European and US markets.
