PVTIME – On 11 March, China Energy Engineering Group (CEEC) and Masdar, the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company, signed EPC contracts for two solar power plants in Azerbaijan.

These two projects, the 445MW Bilasuvar and 315MW Banka PV plants in Azerbaijan, are of great significance in promoting the development of renewable energy in Azerbaijan and optimising its energy structure, and mark CEEC’s debut in providing EPC services for large-scale PV power projects in Azerbaijan.
The Bilasuvar project is the largest PV project under construction in Azerbaijan. With an AC side capacity of 445 MW and a DC side capacity of 580 MW, and a capacity ratio of 1.3, it is expected to generate approximately 890 million kWh of electricity per year. This will result in an annual reduction of approximately 670,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions.
The Banka PV project has an AC side capacity of 315 MW and a DC side installed capacity of 410 MW, with a capacity ratio of approximately 1.3. It is expected to produce approximately 640 million kWh of electricity per year, resulting in an annual carbon dioxide emission reduction of approximately 480,000 tonnes.
Once completed, the two projects are expected to generate a combined annual electricity output of approximately 1.53 billion kWh and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 1.15 million tonnes per year. This will significantly increase Azerbaijan’s clean energy supply and help the country reduce its dependence on traditional fossil fuels.
