7 Billion Yuan! Mubon to Establish n-type Solar Cell and Wafer Manufacturing Base in China

PVTIME – On 14 January 2024, Mubang High-Tech Co., Ltd. (Mubon, 603398.SH), a company mainly engaged in educational toys, medical devices, education and non-metallic precision moulds, announced its intention to establish a solar cell and wafer production base in the east of Tongling City, Anhui Province, China, with a total investment of 7 billion yuan (US$974.4 million).

The overall project aims to produce 10GW of high-efficiency n-type solar cells and 10GW of wafers per year, to be achieved in two phases of 5GW of cells and 5GW of wafers respectively. The plant is expected to be completed by the end of June 2024 and to be operational within three months.

In recent years, Mubon has gradually shifted its focus to upstream materials for photovoltaic cells, such as R&D, production and sales of monocrystalline silicon ingots and silicon wafers. Since 2022, it has expanded its business to the production of TOPCon cells and wafers, and has supplied millions of wafers to solar energy companies.
