PVTIME – SEG Solar has announced plans to build a new 4GW PV module factory in Houston, Texas. Once complete, the facility will increase the company’s total domestic US module capacity to approximately 6GW. The $200 million, 500,000-square-foot facility is expected to begin commercial operations in Q3 2026.

Designed to be highly flexible in order to integrate next-generation technologies such as HJT as the industry develops, the new plant will complement SEG Solar’s existing 2GW module factory in Texas. Upon completion, the facility is expected to create up to 800 jobs, establishing SEG Solar as one of the largest 100% US-owned PV module manufacturers.
In order to navigate evolving policy and trade environments, SEG Solar has implemented a dual strategy, combining local manufacturing in the US with vertical integration in Southeast Asia. Its 2GW Indonesian cell factory has been operational since May 2025 and supplies the US, European, and Indonesian markets. A 5GW ingot and wafer facility in Indonesia is scheduled to break ground in Q2 2026. The completion of these upstream projects will deliver a fully traceable supply chain from ingots to modules, which is critical for meeting strict US market compliance requirements.
SEG Solar is verified by independent third parties as compliant with US Foreign Entity of Concern (FEOC) regulations and is classified as a Non-Prohibited Foreign Entity (Non-PFE). The company currently offers PV modules produced with Non-PFE cells. This ensures eligibility for Section 45Y and Section 48E tax credits, as US Treasury guidelines bar projects initiated after 31 December 2025 from accessing these credits if they include funding or components from a restricted entity.
SEG Solar is also expanding its business scope by launching SEG Energy in Indonesia in March 2026, thereby entering the energy storage sector and offering residential, commercial, industrial, and utility-scale energy storage systems (ESS).
