40GW+80GW! Canadian Solar’s Silicon Rod and Crucible Project in the Environmental Assessment Process

PVTIME – Recently, the Environmental Impact Assessment documents for Canadian Solar’s 40GW silicon rod and 80GW crucible project were accepted by the Ecology and Environment Bureau of Hohhot City, Inner Mongolia Region of China.

The project was initiated on 16 July 2023 for an integrated manufacturing base covering the supply chain of the entire PV industry in Hohhot City.

It will be completed in three phases. In the first phase, the annual production capacity will be 20GW of monocrystalline silicon ingot, 80GW of crucible, 10GW of silicon slice, 10GW of solar cell, 5GW of module and 5GW of related products, with a total investment of 18 billion yuan. In the second phase, the annual production capacity will be 25GW of silicon ingot, 5GW of silicon slice, 5GW of solar cell, 5GW of module and 5GW of related PV product. In the third phase, 25GW of silicon rod, 5GW of silicon slice, 5GW of solar cell, 120,000 tonnes of industrial silicon and 100,000 tonnes of polysilicon are planned.
