PVTIME – On July 5, Trina Solar announced that it has achieved a power conversion efficiency of 24.5% for its industrial high-efficiency PERC solar cell in mass production with a size of 210mm ×210mm, setting a new world record, by its State Key laboratory of PV Science and Technology (SKL PVST). This is independently confirmed by the third party National Institude of Metrology (NIM), China.
“We are very proud to announce the latest achievement of our technical team, to reach the efficiency of 24.5% for large-area 210mm high-efficiency P-type PERC cell,” said Dr. CHEN Yifeng, Head of High Efficiency Cell and Module R&D Center in Trina Solar. “Our technical team will continue to focus on transfer innovative technologies to manufacturing to consolidate our technology leadership in high efficiency cells mass production.”
This is the 24th time that Trina Solar has set or refreshed the world records for solar cells. Trina Solar stated that it is always focused on developing leading-edge PV techniques and products to achieve commercial success of customers with its innovations.
