200MW! Hanwha Qcells Secures Solar Project to Power Meta

PVTIME – Hanwha Qcells has secured a turnkey solar partnership with Meta, providing renewable power through photovoltaic module supply and full EPC services. This deal demonstrates the division’s ability to provide comprehensive renewable energy solutions as part of the Hanwha Solutions group.

Hanwha Qcells has finalised a contract with US renewable energy developer Zelestra Energy to develop a 200MW solar facility in Gibson County, Indiana. Due for completion by late 2027, the project will utilise approximately 320,000 solar modules to generate enough electricity to power 36,000 local households annually. All generated power will be supplied to Meta via an established PPA.

Branded ‘Reclamation’, the project repurposes a disused coal mining site, transforming retired industrial land into a viable renewable energy generation base. Post-completion ecological works, including soil stabilisation and green space restoration, will support the recovery of local biodiversity and systemic environmental improvement.

This integrated EPC and module supply contract is a key part of Hanwha Qcells’ strategy for expanding in North America. Since launching its dedicated Solar Centre in June, the company has accelerated its penetration of the regional market by combining local production capacity with comprehensive EPC delivery.

The substantial increase in corporate power demand driven by global growth in data centre and artificial intelligence infrastructure has prompted major technology organisations to scale up renewable energy procurement. According to BloombergNEF analysis, four leading tech companies, including Meta, are set to account for 49% of the global corporate renewable energy uptake by 2025. Hanwha Qcells continues to target strategic partnerships with hyperscale data centre operators and large-scale clean energy consumers.

Chris Hodrick, head of Hanwha Qcells’ EPC division, confirmed that the business will use its well-established US manufacturing infrastructure and proven track record in EPC delivery to help global tech enterprises meet their formal clean energy transition objectives.
