1GW! Foxconn Partners with Brookfield for Renewable Scheme in Vietnam

PVTIME – Hon Hai Technology Group, widely recognised as Foxconn, has signed a strategic cooperation agreement with the global investment firm Brookfield, with the aim of developing a mixed renewable energy portfolio with an overall capacity of up to 1GW across Vietnam.

The agreement covers the joint development of onshore wind and solar photovoltaic facilities, as well as battery energy storage systems. All clean power generated will primarily cater to the energy needs of Foxconn’s production campuses and affiliated supply chain networks in Vietnam. Based in Taiwan, the electronics manufacturer holds over 40% of the global electronics manufacturing services market and is a key supplier to high-profile clients such as Apple.

Foxconn’s Chief Investment Officer, James Tu, stated that the group welcomed the new strategic partnership as it would help secure sustainable, long-term renewable power for its Vietnamese business ecosystem. He added that shared investment and asset management strategies would deliver stable, cost-efficient power to underpin continual regional expansion.

All projects will be delivered via long-term power purchase agreements to guarantee a consistent supply of clean power for industrial operations. Both organisations will share responsibilities covering capital investment and full lifecycle asset management.

Brookfield noted that the collaboration reflects a nationwide increase among Vietnamese enterprises in the pursuit of reliable renewable energy solutions, driven by supportive policy frameworks throughout Southeast Asia.
