PVTIME – In a momentous development for the global clean energy landscape, PV giant LONGi has joined forces with ENGIE, a world-renowned energy group, and PowerChina, a leading global power construction company, to sign a major cooperation agreement in Paris. Under the terms of the agreement, LONGi will supply over 1GW of its high-efficiency upgraded Hi-MO 9 modules, marking a major leap forward in the large-scale commercialisation of Back Contact (BC) technology.

The global PV ecosystem is rapidly moving into the BC era, where innovative technologies are set to redefine the future of solar energy. The signing of this massive BC-based project confirms that high-efficiency BC technology has fully entered the phase of large-scale application and commercial value realisation.
LONGi’s Hi-MO 9 modules, featuring the latest second generation BC technology, are at the forefront of this technological revolution. With an impressive power output of up to 670W and a conversion efficiency of 24.8%, these modules are designed to perform exceptionally well in diverse and challenging environments. Whether faced with extreme heat, high humidity or other complex conditions, they show minimal degradation over time. In addition, they significantly reduce the risk of module failure and fire hazards, ensuring greater safety and maximising the energy output and long-term value of solar power plants throughout their operational life.
The signing of the tripartite agreement also solidifies a long-term and stable strategic relationship between LONGi, ENGIE and PowerChina, building on their existing cooperation. Each partner will leverage their respective strengths in project development, technological innovation and technical implementation. By pooling their expertise and resources, they aim to expand the scope of their cooperation, foster further innovation and take the lead in the global clean energy transition.
The new partnership will play a key role in accelerating the achievement of renewable energy targets in the Middle East and Africa. By facilitating the large-scale deployment of clean energy solutions, the collaboration will drive the region’s energy transition towards a more sustainable and environmentally friendly future.
