PVTIME – Trina Solar has formalised a new collaboration in the Middle Eastern market through a memorandum of understanding with the Yemeni company Al-Raebi Trading and Solar Systems. Between 2026 and 2029, the two parties plan to develop a combined 1.5GW of photovoltaic assets within Yemen and neighbouring Middle Eastern markets. The joint development activity will focus on utility-scale and large commercial photovoltaic installations, and the group’s latest TOPCon 3.0 modules have been selected as the primary hardware for all the planned generating facilities.

The memorandum establishes structured workflows for project appraisal and technical specification alignment, as well as flexible cooperation mechanisms. The partnership is designed to address Yemen’s shortage of low-cost, reliable clean electricity and the growing local demand for renewable power capacity.
Todd Li, President of Trina Solar’s Asia Pacific, Middle East and Africa division, believes that the agreement will strengthen the firm’s long-term market presence in Yemen and accelerate the build-out of national renewable energy. Trina Solar’s well-established technology portfolio and experience in executing projects worldwide will complement Al-Raebi’s local industry networks, unlocking sustained project pipelines and reinforcing regional energy security and sustainable development targets.
Abdullah M. Raebi, Al-Raebi’s Director and Chief Executive, notes that the deal will reinforce the company’s domestic market footprint by enabling the steady deployment of robust photovoltaic systems to ease constraints on the domestic clean power supply.
The deployment of the 1.5GW project portfolio will combine cutting-edge photovoltaic technology with local resources. This will diversify Yemen’s current power generation mix and deliver gradual, measurable progress towards the country’s national energy transition programme.
