PVTIME – Chinese solar module supplier Tongwei recently signed a supply agreement with ACWA Power, a global leader in power investment, development and operation.
Tongwei will supply 1.175GW of its TNC-G12R 66 solar modules to ACWA Power’s solar power plant in Western Saudi Arabia. This is in fulfilment of a framework established by the two sides during the SNEC Expo in Shanghai in June 2024.
The modules will be used for the fourth phase of the Muwyah solar project under Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), with the first shipment scheduled for 2025. The project will be operational in 2027 and will generate approximately 1.6297 billion kWh of clean electricity per year, equivalent to reducing nearly 1.53503 million tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions. This will significantly support Saudi Arabia’s goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2060.
