PVTIME – The launching ceremony of the “Clean Energy for Earth” Campaign and Clean Energy Development Forum kicked off on December 6 in Beijing. The event was co-hosted by Trina Solar, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products (CCCME), and the Shenzhen One Planet Foundation.
It brought together representatives from many organizations both international and domestic, including the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and IBM, who launched the Joint Initiative “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign and drew a blueprint for building a bright future with clean energy. Trina Solar Chairman Gao Jifan delivered a video speech at the event.
“Clean Energy for Earth” is a new campaign launched in China during Earth Hour 2022, the most influential public environmental protection program in the world. Following the theme “Shape Our Future with Clean Energy”, the campaign aims to mobilize organizations and individuals to pay attention to climate change and achieve our low-carbon and environmental protection goals. The campaign strives to encourage people to use clean energy and jointly contribute to a carbon-neutral future.
Gao Jifan noted that clean energy will become the main driving force of energy transformation. The International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) predicted that clean energy such as wind and solar will account for over 75% of the world’s installed capacity by 2050; wind and solar will make up almost 80% of China’s power mix by 2060.
As a leading player in the PV industry, Trina Solar has always pursued its mission of “Solar Energy for All”. In a bid to enable industry-wide progress together with stakeholders, Trina Solar joins hands with partners via the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign to create a better environment with bluer skies and cleaner waters for our future generations.
At the launching ceremony, the co-initiators of “Clean Energy for Earth” called on the world to enhance the use of clean energy and work together to create a better future with improved environmental conditions and carbon neutrality, and hundreds of organizations have joined the campaign so far.
The online launching ceremony brought together distinguished experts, scholars, and corporate representatives around the world to focus on the clean energy sector and promote green, coordinated development across the industry chain.
In recent years, as the world pays more attention to problems including the environment and climate change, the vigorous development of clean energy has become the consensus of all countries.
In the process of promoting clean energy, there is a significant task that encourages individuals, companies, and social organizations to raise awareness of clean energy and to take action to make joint contributions to this great cause. This is also the essential purpose of the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign. Companies and organizations will get invited to lectures and training sessions organized by the “Clean Energy for Earth” campaign, setting rational carbon reduction goals and action plans according to their actual conditions.
