JD.Com Plans to Build an Ecosystem With the World’s Largest Rooftop Photovoltaic Capacity

PVTIME – Recently, JD.com announced that it will work with its partners to build the world’s largest rooftop photovoltaic power generation ecosystem. In recent years, JD.com has been increasing the promotion and application of clean energy provided through photovoltaic power generation in its “Asia No. 1” logistics parks. It is estimated that by the end of 2021, JD.com’s total installed capacity of photovoltaic power stations will reach 200MW across its facilities, and achieve an annual power generation of more than 160 million kWh. This means that JD.com’s sustainable development strategic project “Qingliu Plan” will be setting a new benchmark in the field of renewable energy applications.

Since the beginning of this year, in order to vigorously promote renewable energy and clean energy, JD.com has reached cooperation agreements with many well-known new energy companies such as Yihua Technology, Goldwind Technology, and LONGi to promote the construction of photovoltaic power plants in its intelligent logistics and industrial parks across China. By the end of 2020, JD.com’s “Asia No. 1” intelligent logistics and industrial parks in Qingdao, Hefei, Hangzhou, Xi’an, Tianjin, and Beijing will progressively achieve photovoltaic power generation and complete grid connection.

According to the plan, the intelligent logistics and industrial parks be delivered by JD.com in 2021 are also under negotiation for photovoltaic power generation, and will contribute to the generation of 160 million kWh of clean energy annually. According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2019, China’s urban and rural residents consumed 1,025 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Taking a family of four as the average household, 160 million kilowatt-hours of electricity is equivalent to the electricity consumption of more than 50,000 ordinary households in one year.
