DOW POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle Now Available to Northern California Homeowners

Town & Country Roofing and Dority Roofing Introduced as Authorized Dealers

MIDLAND, Mich.Dow Solar expanded market availability of the DOW™ POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle to homeowners in northern California through its two exclusive POWERHOUSE™ Authorized Dealers – Town & Country Roofing and Dority Roofing. Northern Californians are among the first in the nation to reinvent their roof into a smart energy generating investment.

“Homeowners can now have a roof that goes to work for them, changing it from a depreciating asset into one that generates energy and savings. The product’s flush to the roof installation gives it an unprecedented look which also adds to the value of a home.”

“The DOW POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle allows northern California homeowners to change the way they think about their asphalt roof and the value it can bring to a home,” said Dan Pezolt, Dow Solar Marketing Director. “Homeowners can now have a roof that goes to work for them, changing it from a depreciating asset into one that generates energy and savings. The product’s flush to the roof installation gives it an unprecedented look which also adds to the value of a home.”

Dow Solar’s POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle is a complete roofing system that protects the home like a standard roofing shingle while using the sun to power it. Each custom designed array can offset as much electricity as the homeowner targets; the system comes with an inverter that converts the Direct Current (DC) into Alternating Current (AC) to power the home, and a monitoring system delivering real-time production and consumption readouts from any internet connection. Dow can also monitor each system to ensure optimal performance and provide real-time feedback on individual systems.

Made in the USA and backed by a 20 year warranty from The Dow Chemical Company, the POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle is also certified as both a solar and roofing product. It has received seven performance and safety certifications, including the backing of Underwriters Laboratories (UL), International Code Council Evaluation Service (ICC-ES) certification, California Energy Commission Certification and is proven to withstand rain, hail and wind uplift.

Dow identified northern California as a launch market for the DOW POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle because of the state’s commitment and investment to the solar industry. California has long been the nation’s leading solar installation market with over 1.5 GW of installed solar capacity, and home to more than 3,500 active solar firms that employ thousands of people.

Bringing the POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle to California aligns perfectly with California’s pledge to have one million solar roofs in the state by 2018 as outlined in the Million Solar Roofs Bill.

”We are delighted our product can offer a solution to reach this tremendous goal,” commented Pezolt. “And we are proud to partner with two elite professional roofing contractors in northern California to bring homeowners this cutting edge roofing solution that generates homeowner value without a compromise to the aesthetics of the home.”

“Our team at Town & Country Roofing is energetic and ready to ‘reinvent’ northern California rooftops with the DOW POWERHOUSE™ Solar Shingle,” said Jeff Tamayo, President, Town & Country Roofing, Inc. “We are honored to be one of the first POWERHOUSE™ Authorized Dealers, and are thrilled to offer our customers a truly smart roof solution.”

“Upgrading a traditional roof to a POWERHOUSE™ solar roofing system is a smart home equity investment, and something I know our customers are interested in,” said Kasey Dority, President, Dority Roofing. “Houses with solar sell on average twice as fast as comparable houses without solar, and adds to the total home value. Offering a reliable, high quality product that provides a superior aesthetic look like this product will reshape the California residential roofing market.”
