ACWA Power and ENERGY CHINA Sign EPC for 2.6GW PV Project

PVTIME – China Energy Engineering Group Co., Ltd.(ENERGY CHINA) disclosed that an EPC contract was signed between ACWA Power, a leading Saudi developer, investor, and operator of power generation, water desalination and green hydrogen plants worldwide, and ENERGY CHINA on October 18, 2022, for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Al Shuaibah PV Project.

The EPC signed this time mainly focuses on the second phase of the PV project which is designed to reach installed capacity of 2.6GW as the largest solar power project initiated by ACWA Power, the utility developer backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), in the Kingdom since its listing. There will be two PV stations allocated in the Mecca region, under the Al Faisaliah scheme. What is more, the project is expected to strengthen and diversify the power supply in that region where is home for over eight million inhabitants, attracting further millions every year through pilgrimage trips to the holy site known as the Kaaba.
