PVTIME – Recurrent Energy, a subsidiary of Canadian Solar, has announced the commencement of commercial operations at the 20MWp Court Barton solar farm in Devon. This completes another utility-scale solar installation within the company’s development portfolio in the United Kingdom.

The facility will generate enough electricity each year to supply around 8,500 households. Its design incorporates dedicated biodiversity measures, including the provision of a habitat for skylarks across a designated area of the site. The project achieves a biodiversity net gain of over 60%, alongside community engagement initiatives that support local environmental activity.
The delivery model adopted for Court Barton reflects the developer’s approach to balancing renewable capacity expansion with local ecological and community priorities. Such integrated planning has become a key consideration for solar development across England as expectations around nature conservation continue to evolve, both from a regulatory and public perspective.
Commissioning the site will contribute incremental volumes of zero-carbon power to the national grid, supporting the United Kingdom’s wider decarbonisation targets. Financial details for the project were not disclosed in the official announcement.
