PVTIME – Masdar, a clean-energy investor headquartered in Abu Dhabi, has entered into a strategic cooperation with Luxcara, a German energy infrastructure asset manager, under a signed memorandum of understanding (MoU). The partnership has a target total investment volume of €5 billion, earmarked for battery energy storage and offshore wind projects in Germany.

Unveiled during the United Arab Emirates’ official state visit to Germany, this non-binding framework agreement outlines the joint exploration of investment opportunities, primarily focusing on domestic German battery energy storage systems (BESS) and offshore wind assets. This scope may be extended to include additional energy transition technologies in future developments.
This collaboration draws on Masdar’s extensive experience in investing in renewable energy projects around the world and Luxcara’s in-depth knowledge of the local market in developing, financing and operating energy infrastructure across Europe. Industry observers have noted that this collaboration will reinforce foreign capital inflows into Germany’s rapidly expanding wind and storage pipeline amid national targets to increase offshore wind capacity and deploy large-scale battery storage for grid stabilisation.
It should be noted that this MoU does not represent any binding financial commitments. The execution of concrete projects will depend on the finalisation of definitive contracts, as well as the obtaining of all required regulatory and planning approvals from the German authorities.
