PVTIME – Tesla has started manufacturing its new-generation Megapack 3 utility-scale energy storage system at its Brookshire facility in Texas. With a designed annual production capacity of 50GWh, the facility achieved full production readiness just 16 months after construction began.

The updated Megapack 3 unit has a usable capacity of 5MWh, which is 28% higher than the earlier Megapack 2 XL model. Technological enhancements optimise the system for discharge durations of up to eight hours. Its compatibility with the Megablock installation framework also reduces project deployment times by 23%.
Commercial deliveries of the Megapack 3 are expected to begin by the end of 2026. Once operational, the Texas plant’s annual production capacity will exceed the combined storage manufacturing output of Tesla’s California and Shanghai facilities.
