PVTIME – Rezolv Energy has secured full construction clearance from Romania’s National Energy Regulatory Authority for its Dama Solar development in Arad County, its flagship project. Technical design optimisations have increased the project’s planned capacity from 1.04GW to 1.2GW. The asset is targeted for commercial operation in 2028 and will be the largest operational photovoltaic facility in the European Union once completed.

Rezolv Energy took over the project’s development rights in November 2022. The original blueprint combined 1.04GW of solar generation with a 135MW battery energy storage system. The project was awarded two Contracts for Difference in Romania’s second Ministry of Energy auction last year. Formal regulatory consent has accelerated ongoing financing and procurement work, with imminent financial close set to trigger project construction.
The integrated storage system will be one of the largest battery energy assets in Romania, strengthening grid flexibility and stabilising renewable power delivery. The development also features an 82-hectare protected natural area, which constitutes one of the largest ecological restoration schemes in Southeast Europe tied to solar infrastructure projects in the private sector.
