Canadian Solar Set for Global Mass Rollout of Third-Generation TOPCon Modules in August 2026

PVTIME – Canadian Solar has confirmed that its newly launched third-generation TOPCon solar modules will be shipped globally in large quantities from August 2026, following comprehensive upgrades to the design of the cells and modules.

The updated product has a peak power output of 670W and a maximum module efficiency of 24.8%. It adopts large-size cells and a multi-split structural design to strengthen bifacial power generation capability, temperature coefficient performance, and long-term operational reliability. These technical improvements are set to reduce the levelised cost of electricity for photovoltaic systems effectively.

Amid prevailing overcapacity across the global photovoltaic sector, the firm has also outlined its overall capacity strategy. It is prioritising the research, development, and large-scale commercialisation of high-efficiency products and cost-reduction and efficiency-enhancement technologies, including base metal substitution, to maximise the value of existing production capacity. Obsolete and technologically backward capacity earmarked for phase-out will be sold as assets and disposed of in other ways to realise residual value.

The company’s integrated energy storage capacity enables flexible, demand-driven production scheduling for domestic and international orders alike. Its battery cell business continues to develop next-generation, high-capacity cell technologies, operating with a balanced model of in-house production and external procurement. All future overseas capacity expansions will be delivered through the group’s international joint venture platforms, with local deployment tailored to regional policy requirements and market conditions.
