PVTIME – Tesla has officially launched an integrated renewable energy package in the UK, combining solar panels and the Powerwall 3 home energy storage system. This marks the company’s transition from an electric vehicle manufacturer to a comprehensive energy services provider. Available to Tesla vehicle owners via low monthly payments and interest-free instalments, the offering forms a key element of the company’s Master Plan Part IV, which aims to make sustainable energy more accessible across the UK.

The package includes the necessary equipment, installation and commissioning, and costs £199 per month, plus a £1,747 deposit and a four-year contract. Non-Tesla EV drivers can access a similar scheme through Tesla’s partner, Boxt, which offers the same interest-free terms, fixed pricing and turnkey installation. An eight-panel system with Powerwall 3 enables households to power their homes and charge their Tesla EVs using self-generated green energy, delivering annual energy cost savings of around £1,450 and a cost of charging an EV of approximately £3.30.
Customers leasing a rear-wheel-drive Model 3 (£295 per month) can access the full ‘vehicle-solar-storage-green power’ ecosystem for a combined monthly cost of £494. Tesla, which holds an energy retail licence from Ofgem, is leveraging its EV customer base and in-house hardware expertise to build a closed-loop energy ecosystem. This supports its global energy expansion and addresses challenges in the growth of the automotive sector. Future iterations of the Powerwall and increased solar adoption are expected to drive further growth in its storage segment.
