680W! LONGi Delivers BC Modules With 40W Lead

PVTIME – LONGi has officially launched the delivery of its second-generation, high-power BC modules. Mass-produced peak power has reached 680W, with maximum conversion efficiency hitting 25.2%, thanks to the company’s sustained technological development and manufacturing strength.

Available in 670W, 675W and 680W ratings, all of which feature the industry-standard dimensions of 2382×1134 mm, the modules strike a balance between transport and installation convenience, while increasing the ceiling for mass production efficiency from 24.8% to 25.2%. The 680W variant is the industry’s highest-power product, with stable delivery, which cements LONGi’s technical edge as a market benchmark.

Competition over power remains central to the photovoltaic sector, with TrendForce noting that mastering 650W-plus high-power modules is key to future competitiveness. 2026 is widely viewed as a watershed year, when 650W+ modules will become standard for power plant investments.

While most major manufacturers are working to exceed 640W and preparing for the next generation of technologies, LONGi has secured a clear power advantage. Its 680W BC modules outperform the 630W TOPCon modules that currently dominate market supply, even as 640W TOPCon products enter the market.

The 25.2% conversion efficiency sets a new mass production record for BC technology and drives down the levelised cost of electricity, which is at the core of photovoltaic competition.

These advances bring tangible benefits to customers. In China, the power upgrade alone delivers an additional system-level value of over RMB 0.15 per watt, with even greater premiums in performance-sensitive overseas markets. For a 10,000-square-metre industrial rooftop, LONGi’s 680W modules reduce the payback period to approximately 2.6 years, generating over RMB 3 million in additional net income over 30 years, thanks to fewer modules, lower bracket and cable costs, better inverter compatibility, and higher labour efficiency.

LONGi has confirmed that its high-power BC modules are in mass production, ensuring consistent availability and on-demand delivery for the high-end market.
