Astronergy Alfa Solar Launch Turkish PV JV

PVTIME – Astronergy Europe, which is part of the Chint Group, has announced a strategic partnership with Alfa Solar, Turkey’s leading solar manufacturer, to establish a 50:50 joint venture named Astroenergy. This collaboration will deliver an integrated wafer and solar cell manufacturing base in Turkey, which is a key element of Astronergy’s wider 5GW PV manufacturing plan for the country.

Located in the organised industrial zone of Balıkesir Province, the first phase of the project will require an investment of around 200 million US dollars, with an initial annual production capacity of 2.5GW. Production will begin with ingot slicing, before expanding to cover the entire integrated production chain for wafers and solar cells.

Once operational, the project will address Turkey’s lack of high-efficiency PV wafer and cell capacity. Around 80% of the output will be exported to Europe, the Middle East, and other regions, strengthening Astronergy’s global PV supply chain and expanding its market reach.

The initiative is set to secure support under Turkey’s Ministry of Industry and Technology’s HIT-30 High Tech Investment Programme, which will provide benefits including help with market development, preferential financing, and prioritised access to public resources.

As a leading Turkish PV firm, Alfa Solar holds local industrial resources, established market channels, and a product range covering half-cut TOPCon and other PV module technologies. Astronergy Europe will contribute the mature PV production expertise and global operational experience of its parent company, Chint, creating a complementary partnership.
