US DOE Restructures, Scrapping Clean Energy Offices

PVTIME – The US Department of Energy (DOE) announced a restructuring on 20th local time, prioritising fossil fuel and nuclear energy resources over divisions that were previously focused on renewable energy and energy efficiency.

The department released a new organisational chart and a brief statement confirming that the changes align with the energy dominance agenda of US President Donald Trump. The revised structure introduces new offices, including the Office of Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy, and the Office of Fusion Energy. The Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations, which was established under the Biden administration, has been abolished, and the Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy no longer appears in the framework. The Loan Programs Office, which provides financing for innovative energy projects, has been renamed the Office of Energy Dominance Financing.
