PVTIME – The Hanover-based German company Marcley GmbH has announced a collaboration with Solarize Energy Solutions GmbH to advance the Gemeinschaftliche Gebäudeversorgung (GGV) model, which provides local solar energy for multi-residential buildings.

A pioneer of the GGV concept, Marcley launched its first project in late 2024, enabling multiple households in the same building to share rooftop solar power. The company has since rolled out around 30 projects across Germany, covering 90 residential blocks and connecting over 1,100 electricity meters to form a community-scale energy-sharing network.
A key technical and operational challenge in scaling community solar projects is energy metering and billing, an issue that Marcley addresses by adopting Solarize’s cloud-based settlement platform. The system automates the entire process, from real-time energy data collection and invoicing to cost-sharing management and payment processing, drastically reducing operational complexity.
Florian Schnipkoweit, CEO of Marcley, emphasised that partnering with Solarize is pivotal in making community-building energy supply economically and technically scalable, noting that combining the company’s expertise in the residential sector with Solarize’s digital capabilities is key to the successful large-scale rollout of GGV. Frederik Pfisterer, Co-Founder and CEO of Solarize, stated that Marcley is the first firm to implement community-building energy supply at scale in the residential industry. He expressed delight at supporting the innovative model through a platform that ensures digital and legally compliant operation, adding that the partnership showcases the future of residential energy supply: local, digital, and transparent.
By integrating digital platforms with distributed generation systems, residential buildings are increasingly becoming micro nodes in the energy ecosystem, generating, distributing, and settling energy on site, thereby fostering a truly decentralised energy system.
