PVTIME – Typhoon Sagasa made landfall in Yangjiang in China’s Guangdong Province, causing severe damage to a local solar photovoltaic power station. The facility, which covers 113.39 hectares (1,700 mu), saw its solar panels extensively damaged amid the storm’s strong winds and heavy rain.

Commissioned in August 2015 with a designed lifespan of 25 years and an expected annual generating capacity of 57GWh. Prior to the arrival of Typhoon Sagasa, the station had operated steadily as part of the region’s renewable energy infrastructure, but the typhoon has disrupted its normal operations.
Local authorities have confirmed the extent of the damage, stating that the storm’s intensity resulted in widespread panel destruction. Recovery work is set to begin once weather conditions stabilise, though no timeline for full restoration has yet been announced.
