PVTIME – Pertamina NRE, the renewable energy subsidiary of the Indonesian state-owned company Pertamina, has partnered with LONGi to build a 1.4 GW solar module manufacturing plant in Indonesia. The facility will use LONGi’s HPBC 2.0 N-type technology to produce high-efficiency solar panels, meeting the growing demand for solar energy in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia.

This initiative supports Indonesia’s domestic content policy (TKDN) by aiming to reduce import dependency and boost local manufacturing. Indonesia’s current national solar capacity is 1.6 GW, and the new plant is expected to increase total output to 3 GW, which is in line with the government’s target of generating 300–400 GW of solar energy by 2060.
“HPBC 2.0 technology delivers 26.5%+ efficiency and exceptional thermal stability,” said a Pertamina NRE spokesperson. ‘This facility combines global technical excellence with local production capabilities, reinforcing Indonesia’s role as a regional clean energy hub.’
The project highlights Southeast Asia’s increasing significance in the global solar supply chain. By integrating advanced manufacturing with policy-driven localisation, the partnership is expected to accelerate Indonesia’s energy transition while supporting job creation in the renewable energy sector.
